Our first dog was a x-bred, Chow & Labrador. We got him in -86 and had him for almost 10 years. We also owned a German sheperd-Rhodesian ridgeback-Elkhound mix. But he could not live with other dogs or children.
We had agreed on a purebred for our next dog and spent some years searching for alternatives. We fell in love with the Akita. We did met some over the years and really got to like them. And when Desperados died and there was an add for akita puppies, the decision was made, and we got our first Akita. Unfortunately Khan had to be put down at the age of 2,5 years due to allergy. The Akita was split in 2 breeds from January 2000, so luckily no more "mix-type" Akitas.
From dog shows we also learned to know the shiba, and it seemed as a breed in many ways similar to the akita. So we started looking for a puppy, and Makka came to us in 1998.
Breeding dogs of high standard is hard work and demands planning. When you're a breeder you have to thoroughly check the pedigree of your own dog, and of those you want to breed them to, often going 5 generations back. To have a goal in your breeding is essential. Accidental litters should be avoided.
We try to activate our dogs through different activities; Pulling, backpacking, tracking, agility and some obedience. We're not on competing level at the time, but who knows. We usually travel a lot during the year, and we like meeting akita and shiba owners and lovers. We have both akitas and shibas at home and also we have som coowned dogs, living in other families.
The dogs you see in our menues are "Eikou", akita og "Makka", shiba.
